Child & Adolescent Counseling
Children and adolescents, just like adults, can participate in and benefit from counseling. Counseling can help children and adolescents learn how to identify causes of their distress, develop appropriate emotional expression, and improve their problem-solving abilities.
Common stressors dealt with in child and adolescent counseling include:
- school and family issues
- school stressors
- peer pressure
- learning difficulties
Teenage years are challenging for both teens and parents and can introduce many new pressures. Counseling can be helpful in helping your teen discover healthier ways to deal with the new problems and stressors they may encounter. I also understand that many parents have questions about their child or adolescent’s therapeutic process and progress, and I often try to incorporate parents or caregivers in the therapy process when appropriate.
Christina Taylor, LPC, PLLC
I have 8 years combined experience of working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings.
While working at a local residential treatment center as an individual and family therapist, I had the opportunity to provide therapy services to children and adolescents with anger management issues, developmental delays, ADHD, mood disorders, and other emotional and behavioral issues.
In 2014, I began working with a non-profit foster care and adoption organization, providing individual and family therapy services to families and at risk youth. I also have several years of Applied Behavioral Analysis training and have experience providing 1:1 therapy for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Feel free to take a look at the other pages on this site for more information on the services I offer. I look forward to hearing from you!
